Shachi Shah Senior Executive at Bridgewater Associates, a seasoned investment professional and lawyer by training. Prior to joining Bridgewater she was the Founder, Managing Director and Head of Funds and Advisory at Barclays from July 2005-May 2013. Funds and Advisory at Barclays, was a leading, multi-asset investment management specialist servicing broad range of institutional clients.

Ms. Shah has more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry. Under her leadership, Funds and Advisory grew to manage total global AUM of over US$28 billion and had an award-winning reputation for multi-asset capabilities, customized solutions and inflation/commodity expertise.

Ms. Shah was named Women of Achievement in Financial Service by Women in the City October 2012, Asset Management CEO of the Year at the Global Investor/ISF Investment Excellence Awards in June 2012 and earlier in the year was voted as one of the top 50 most influential people in pensions by Pensions Insight in January 2012.

The strategies that she developed and managed have won numerous awards, were highly rated and ranked in the top quartiles of performance since their inception in 2006. In addition, she has spear headed the development of cutting edge asset management platform that provides state of the art multi-asset execution capabilities, risk analytics and sophisticated portfolio implementation. The business she built was geographically diverse and had significant success in markets that would ordinarily be difficult for new entrants, such as Japan and the US.

In prior roles at Deutsche Bank, she led the development of innovative solutions, including the highly acclaimed Dynamic range of fixed income funds and the Sovereign Plus and Stability Plus funds, among the first commodity strategies in the market.

Ms Shah has extensive experience in creating next generation financial products having worked previously at Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse. She began her career as a lawyer and held both the NY State Bar and UK licenses prior to moving full time into financial product development and investment management.

Ms. Shah is a Trustee and Chair for the Indiability Foundation UK, a co-educational charity for physically disabled children http://www.indiability.org. She is an avid sponsor and advocate of increasing the presence of women in finance and women’s human rights. She is an honorary associate for the National Council of Women, Great Britain, a member of the UN affiliates group on the Commission for the Status of Women and was recently invited to be a Mentor for the Youth Ambassadors for the National Council of Women. Whilst at Barclays she was for a number of years the Co-Chair of the Women’s Initiatives Network, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
